Logo - REAP Football Camp

Recently, I was contacted by a good friend that asked about a logo he needed for an upcoming Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) sponsored football camp. If you know me, I've always been fascinated with sports-related logos and branding, so I was thrilled to have a project that fit in that niche.

After getting the details, I dove for my sketchbook and got to work! You never really know how many sketches you'll end up making before settling on a direction to explore. And even when you do choose one to work with, you often end up back on paper making more thumbnails until you land on another potential option. It's not often that your initial ideas translate well once you introduce them to a pencil and paper. But occasionally, you get lucky... I got lucky!

Direction declared! Next step is to start converting the sketch to digital art. I'd say that a majority of the time while designing, I'll scan my sketch in and work directly from that. But sometimes I'll sketch out the idea quick on paper, and then explore the idea further by "sketching" on my computer. It all depends on the project.

Sending files back and forth a few times, we landed on the final logo below. To get a better feel for how the logo might hold up on a t-shirt, I created a mock-up. This not only gives me a better look at how the logo will perform, but it also makes it much easier for the client (my friend in this case) to visualize it on the application. I really enjoyed the project and can't wait to see the logo on some real shirts soon!
